Relations to other institutes

• The ABWBS holds an important exchange with IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) and its sections all around the world, but predominantly with the Swiss section, the Schweizerisches Institut für Kinder- und Jugendmedien (SIKJM) based in Zurich.

• The cooperation with Bibliomedia is important for all libraries for the possibility of lending media in certain languages. Bibliomedia, Baobab Children's Book Fund and ABWBS, in addition, have founded the institution Mondomedia. Mondomedia offers courses for library staff who want to start offering foreign-language books in their communal libraries. The courses are run by employees of some of the intercultural libraries who contribute their know-how.

• There is a growing interest of the pedagogic academies, institutes of psychology, language and literature as well as social sciences for the experience and activities of the intercultural libraries.
